"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Shakespeare aside, your baby's name is most likely something pretty important to you. If you are like most girls you've been thinking about this since you first learned parents get to pick their kid's names!
What you don't realize when you're little is how much your tastes change along the way and what events in life might alter that decision. I would have never thought I'd be considering naming my little girl after my father, but here I am. I also never imagined he'd leave this planet when I was just 24. We had chosen a girl and boys name for my first child and waited until giving birth to find out the sex. I knew I couldn't wait this time and when I found out we couldn't use the boy name we loved I was at a loss for ideas. My father has been gone 11 years and though I'm pretty certain I think of him at least once a day, being pregnant has a way of reminding me that he's not here when he should be. These major milestones can be pretty tough to go through when you're missing someone you love and I desperately wanted to include him somehow in this event, but how? Here's the rundown of how I tried every way I could think of to include him in my child's name and what I ultimately went with.
You’re expecting your first child?! Congratulations, so exciting!!! Okay, now what? Navigating through the baby market is daunting, to say the least. The big name stores make you think you need everything under the sun and more, so for this post, I'm focusing strictly on registry items that you don't need! Hope it helps!
The short answer is none. Don’t register for clothes. Yes, I'm serious. SLOW YOUR ROLL! I know it’s so hard, but people will give you clothes; if not at the baby shower, when baby arrives for sure. The only items you need to have before baby arrives are listed below and chances are you'll get most of them as gifts regardless of registering for them. What you want people to focus on are the things you really need, (i.e. car seat, crib, sheets, bottles, etc.) especially if money is tight
